I will never forget the weekend I found out I was a confirmed participating Artist in the 2012 Golden Globes celebrity gift lounge hosted by GBK productions. Literally jumping around like a fool, I was elated with excitement. I was ecstatic. Thrilled. Joyed. Nervous. Overwhelmed. I was bloody scared out of my mind. These gift bags would be going to celebrities! Kim Kardashian, Penelope Cruz, Jennifer Aniston! My mind was racing with the possibility of the celebrities that could get one of these gift bags with MY products in it. What opportunities that would unlock, I imagined. This frame of mind lasted all of about 1 hour. Then reality quickly sank in. More like drop kicked me in the chest. 100 was the theme here. 100 pieces of jewelry to make, 100 boxes to hold the jewelry, 100 ribbons to tie the little boxes, 100 cards, artists bio's, pretty bags, and so on. Wow. 100 little things. These 100 little things quickly became 100 of EVERYTHING, which was ALOT! Me, being the procrastinator that I am, kept on about my normal business, keeping up with current orders and making sure my local boutiques were well stocked. I began ordering supplies for this project. 100 chocolate boxes, 100 sterling silver clasps, you get the point. 3 weeks prior to shipment due date I begin the process of making the necklaces. Assembly line style seemed easiest for this task. 100 chain lengths cut, 200 pieces of wire to finish the chains cut, 100 pieces of wire cut into circles that then needed to be fused together (thanks to my handy stick of Deet that doubled perfectly as my template for the circle coils!), 100 various little Gemstone drops. Sigh, 100 little things. Busy little fingers. Red little fingers. Sore little fingers! Pushing on, the jewelry was completed. WHAT A RELIEF I felt after counting 100 finished necklaces!!! WOOHOO! Moving on to the packaging & shipping out. I thought this would be the piece of cake part, a breeze, walk in the park compared to making 100 hand coiled wire wrapped Sterling Silver charms with Gemstone dangles. Pffft was I EVER so WRONG. And that's when I called for the kiddo's. Yep, I enlisted child labor. (no kids were harmed in this process, and they were paid with cupcakes, candy, and lots of hugs & kisses). Family style we sat at the table stuffing boxes with necklaces, tying ribbon onto the boxes, stamping & embossing my beautiful bags and stuffing everything inside the bags & tying them ever so nicely. It was a chore, but I felt such an incredible rush of relief when I tied the last ribbon on the last bag. 100 little things. All ready to ship out for the Golden Globes. And then the excitement came back to me~
